Eddie Jones, 68, was born on February 9, l950 to the late James L. and Marjorie Montgomery in Lee County, Mississippi. He left his earthly journey to go be with Jesus eternally on September 28, 2018 from the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He attended Poplar School and Belden School and worked many years of his life as a truck driver for Olympic Products. Eddie loved music and was an excellent guitarist. He played in several area groups and was a longtime guitarist at his Church, Sherman Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Sherman. He professed his faith in Christ Jesus early in life and spend many years as a member of Sherman Grove M.B. Church. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Sherman Grove M.B. Church with Rev. Willie Wilson and Rev. Darryl Rucker officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Jesus New Testament Holiness Church Cemetery near Sherman. Visitation will be from 5 PM-7 PM Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018 with family hour at 5 PM and from 1 PM-service time on Friday all at Sherman Grove M.B. Church. Repast will follow at the Sherman Grove M. B. Church. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo is honored to be serving their friends. \
Those left to mourn Eddie’s passing and cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Watson Jones, to whom he married May 5, l970 in Sherman; daughters, Julia Jones and Barbara Wardlow and son, Jartavious Jones all of Tupelo; his brothers, Perry (Daisy) Montgomery, William (Karla) Montgomery, Artis (Shirley) Montgomery, James H. (Rosalyn) Montgomery, Ray Montgomery, Jimmy Montgomery and Danny Montgomery. His sisters, Velvet Montgomery and Shirley (Richard) Strauss. Granddaughters, Natashea Jones and Shamiah Jones; his great grandchildren, Nataysia Jones, Jarquez Hones and Jaquaveon Jones. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Matthew Montgomery and Stephen Montgomery and a daughter, Sabrina Jones.
Pallbearers will be Jessie McBride, John Johnson, Jr., Marquez Cassiberry, Eric Montgomery, Danny Montgomery and Chico Copeland.
