LIMESTONE COUNTY-On Friday, November 13 Limestone County School Superintendent Randy Shearouse announced both East Limestone Middle School and East Limestone County High School would switch to in-school learning to virtual learning next week. Students are scheduled to return to in-school learning on November 30.
According to Shearouse it had become difficult to staff classrooms due to COVID-19. East Limestone brought in substitutes from other schools but classrooms were still understaffed.
As of the middle of last week both schools had roughly 300 students out of school and according to school officials hundreds more were sent home on Thursday of last week.
According to Limestone County Administrator Brad Lewis 534 students and 30 staff members system wide are in home due to quarantine from COVID-19. He also says 36 students and 6 staff members are currently positive for COVID.
