On Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the age of 95, Earnie Sullins of Hanceville went home to be with the Lord. He died at CRMC, with his daughter Bonnie by his side. Earnie was born on August 23, 1925, to Homer Joshua and Katie Bauer Sullins. After serving as a Marine in World War II, Earnie was married to Bertha Odell Sullins for almost 70 years, until her passing in 2013. He said he missed her and thought of her every day afterwards. While waiting to be reunited with his beloved wife, Earnie enjoyed tending to his garden, eating lunches at the Hanceville Senior Center, playing bingo at the Moose Lodge, and visits with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was well liked, dearly loved, and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, Joe Sullins, David Sullins, and Junior Sullins, and three sisters, Lillie Whaley, Annie Shugart, and Emma Ruth Johnson.
Earnie is survived by his children; Bill(Nancy) Sullins of Peoria, Illinois, Betty(George) Nash of Livonia, Michigan, and Bonnie(Gene) Nash of Hanceville; four grandchildren, Stacey Fiddes, Matthew(Ashley Rubin) Sullins, Lisa Marie(Benny) Wong , and Ben Nash; thirteen great grandchildren, Matt(Maggie) Fiddes, Jack Fiddes, Jakob Sullins, Molly Sullins, Alex Sullins, Cooper Rubin, Ashton Rubin, Kaitlin Wong, Earnie Wong, Mikayla Wong, Ariel Wong, Emaline Wong, and Bronte Nash; one brother, Franklin Sullins; three sisters, Ethelene Powell, Imogene Pennington, and Louise Evans; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1PM on Sunday, December 27th at Duck River Cemetery. There will be no visitation due to the pandemic.
