Earline Campbell Patterson departed this life on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Decatur-Morgan Hospital. Her funeral service will be Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at Kings Memorial United Methodist Church, Reverend Vicki Mayberry officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Patterson was a committed child care advocate, community worker and volunteer. Through the years, she gave her time, energy and talent to many causes, including the North Alabama Girl Scouts, Board Member of the Federation of Child Care Centers of Alabama (FOCAL), Founder and Director of the Lawrence County Day Care Centers in Moulton and Courtland, voter registration drives, the Quad County Child Nutrition Program, a member of the Mayor’s Energy Crisis Committee and the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Morgan, Lawrence, Winston and Cullman counties. Her life was dedicated to helping others through her faith and hard work. She was a long-standing member of Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she served in many capacities.
She was married to loving husband, the late James W. Patterson, and predeceased by a daughter, Marian Patterson; son, Mark E. Patterson; and grandson, Quincy L. Patterson.
Mrs. Patterson leaves to cherish her memory three sisters, Alice M. Rice, Linda Campbell and Luella Rice; one brother, Lester Campbell, her five surviving children, Shirley A. Garner, Sandra Patterson-Jackson (Dr. Leroy Jackson), James Larry Patterson (Mrs. Elizabeth Patterson), Patty Glosson (Mr. Don Glosson) and Alphonso James Patterson (Mrs. Sonya Patterson); 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters. She also leaves several beloved nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church, Church Street, Decatur.
