E.J. "Pete" Stricklin - Humboldt, TN E.J. Stricklin was born October 10, 1926 and passed away August 30, 2022, at Jackson Madison County hospital, at age 95. He was born in Savannah, TN to Myrtle and William “Mac” Stricklin. Everyone knew him as Pete (his given initials didn’t stand for any names). After high school Pete served two years in the army as a paratrooper at the end of WWII. He returned to West Tennessee and attended UT Martin and West Tennessee Business College.

Pete met his wife Anneysa Shackleford in Huntington, TN. They married in 1952 and moved to Humboldt in 1965. Pete spent most of his working career in the road building business with several companies including Hadley Construction, Rogers Construction, and Dement Construction. He gave his life to Christ and was baptized in First Baptist Church, Huntington. He was an active member of First Baptist, now the Church at Sugar Creek, in Humboldt. He was also an avid crappie fisherman for many years, contributing significantly to a declined crappie population at Eagle Creek, off the Tennessee River, today.

He was preceded in death by Anneysa (1998).

He leaves behind his two children, Rick Stricklin (Diane) currently of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl; Ann Maxwell (Chuck), Three Way, TN; two grandchildren, Hannah Christensen (Christian) and Rob Maxwell (Ashleigh); and four great grandchildren.

Genesis 25:8 He took his last breath and died at a good old age, old and contented, and he was gathered to his people.
