Dylan James Self, 30, of Rainbow City, Alabama passed way unexpectedly on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Riverview Regional Medical Center. He was born January 25, 1995 in Marshall County, Alabama, son of Jeff & Audrey Self and David & Shannon Gross. He is proceeded in death by grandparents Ken & Pauline Self, Peggy Payne and Patsy Gross.
He is survived by his wife, Tabatha Self, baby girl Adaline Jane Self; grandparents, JL (Joyce) Payne, Jim Gross; sister, Jessica (Brett) Bastin; niece, Madelyn Bastin; nephew Parker Bastin; in-laws Jack & Karen Harmon; brother-in-laws Zachary Harmon, Nicholas (Isabella) Harmon; nephew Colson Harmon; and a host of family and special friends including Melissa Daws, Blake Dixon, Makenzie Neely, and Cody Rickard.
Dylan was a 2013 graduate of A.P. Brewer High School. He was a veteran proudly serving in the United States Army.
He was in Echo Troop, 7th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division Fort Hood, in Killeen, Texas. He was a 88m and served as a fuel and ammunition handler that was Deployed for Operation Inherent Resolve assigned to AI-Assad Airbase in Iraq in 2018.
Dylan was an active member of Church of the Highlands Gadsden Campus.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Church of the Highlands and his Small Group, Southside Church, Kyuka Missionary Baptist, the doctors, nurses, and staff of Riverview, and all those who prayed, came by and shared expressions of love during their time in the hospital.
