Deacon Dwight Alonzo Weaver Deacon Dwight Weaver was born November 13, 1947, in Florence, Alabama. Dwight was the third child of the late Alonzo Weaver and Dorothy Steward Weaver. He was preceded in death by his sister Jacqueline Weaver Perkins and two brothers Jerry Weaver and Wayne Weaver.

Dwight professed his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at East Florence Missionary Baptist Church.  After moving to Huntsville, AL he continued his faithful walk as an active member of St. Bartley Primitive Baptist Church, Huntsville, AL. He served many years as a humble saint, Deacon, bass musician for all choirs, singer in the brotherhood choir, Trustee Board member and other duties as assigned.

Dwight attended Pine Ridge Elementary School and graduated from Burrell State High School, in Florence, Alabama. He continued his education at Alabama A&M University (AAMU) where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music. As well as   acquiring an Associate’s Degree from J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College. He served in the US Air Force and later retired after 33 years from TVA Brownsferry Nuclear Plant.

Dwight was a faithful and humble servant of God. If you knew Dwight, you knew he was a man who loved the Lord. He had a love for playing his guitar and teaching music. He enjoyed helping others, working in his yard, around his home and at his church. Dwight transitioned home with the Lord on October 19, 2023, at home in Huntsville, Alabama surrounded by his wife Ghytanna, his daughter Letitia Weaver and his brother Donnell Weaver.

Dwight is survived by his loving, caring and devoted wife of 30 years, Ghytanna Weaver; a devoted and loving daughter, Letitia Weave of Madison, AL; three stepsons, Anthony McDonald (Tameka) of Hermitage, TN, D’Angelo Gaines (Ariel) of Lavergne, TN, Rufus Gaines (Michelle) of Lupburg, Germany; four brothers, Gary L. (Sue) Weaver of San Jose, California, Maurice (Roma) Weaver of Poway, California, Dennis (Darlene) Weaver and Donnell T. (Velda) Weaver both of Elkgrove, California; half siblings include Marilyn Weaver of Florence AL, Nate Littleton (Bev) of Atlanta GA, Deidrick Weaver (Beverly) of Sheffield AL, and Sheila Weaver of Chicago, IL.

Dwight was blessed with seven grandchildren, Shatika Falls, Elijah Johnson, Emmanual Johnson, Jaleel Gaines, Jrue Gaines, Jori Gaines and Aria Gaines; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00 noon, Friday, October 27, 2023, at the Saint Bartley Primitive Baptist Church (3020 Belfonte Avenue Huntsville, AL 35816) with Elder Jaymes Mooney officiating. Interment will be in the Valhalla Memory Gardens. Deacon Weaver will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

The Weaver family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the Royal Chapel of Memories.

Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2023, and 8:30 until 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 27, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home.
