Dwight Kevin SelfDwight Kevin Self, 64, of Muscle Shoals, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 14, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Redemption Shoals Church. The funeral service will immediately follow at the church with Ishmael Pruitt officiating. Interment will be at Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Kevin was a native of Oxford, MS but has resided in the Shoals area most of his life. He was a member of Redemption Shoals and the Muscle Shoals Utilities Board. Kevin was in broadcasting with WLAY Radio for 50 years and the voice of multiple nationally broadcast commercials and was known as “The Tornado Siren Guy.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Mitchell Self.

Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne Self; children, Angela Agnew (Thomas), Kristin Elizabeth Self, Dwight Kristopher Self, Daniel Kevin Self, and Jacqueline Ann Self; mother, Elizabeth Lynne Self; brothers, Robert M. Self (Chas), James M. Self (Melissa), and William T. Self (Terri); sister, Michelle Tiffin (Van); grandchildren, Camden Elise Agnew and Whitley Christine Agnew; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Leigh Tiffin, Tas Agnew, Mark Cribbs, Mike Self, Tim Self, and Wes Wilson. Honorary pallbearer is David Heidorn.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
