Dwayne Donald “Hotrod” Webb, age 58 of Lineville, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the East Alabama Medical Center. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
Born in New Jersey, Mr. Webb spent most of his life in Clay County. He was a longtime wrecker driver and racing official at the Talladega Short Track. He loved racing and working on cars. Hotrod was a friendly, familiar face every Saturday night at the Hornets’ Nest. He wasn’t afraid to get his boots dirty and was always the first on the scene of an accident. He was a member of New Beginnings at Chandler Springs.
He is survived by three daughters; two step-daughters; one son; one step-son; three sisters: Sharon McHugh, Rosalyn Cain and Edith Mary Mathews Webb; two brothers, James McHugh (Patty) and Raymond Webb; and seven grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Howard Webb, Jr. and Alma Blanche McHugh Webb; and his wife, Annette Hardeman.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
