Funeral service for Durell “Dude” Alexander, age 83, of Decatur, will be Saturday, April 11, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jackie Kay officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Alexander, who died Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Decatur Health & Rehabilitation, was born June 30, 1931, in Morgan County, to Rile Alexander and Lucille Kelly Alexander. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ralph and Harry Alexander, one sister, Roberta Henson, and one grandson, Adam Alexander. Mr. Alexander was employed by Wolverine Tube for many years before retiring, and he attended Central Park Baptist Church. He loved God and the Lord Jesus Christ, his wife, children, and grandchildren, and was loved by them.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Elese Murdock Alexander, of Decatur; one son, Bentley Alexander (Karen) of Jasper; two daughters, Jennifer Puckett (Gerald) and Karen Butler (Boyd), both of Decatur; two grandsons, Brannon Butler (Desiree) and Ethan Butler, both of Decatur; three granddaughters, Megan McCulley (Mike) of Montgomery, Lindsay Lucas (John) of Hapeville, GA, and Abi Bongiovanni (Jon) of Madison; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
