Duke Harlan CowsertDuke Harlan Cowsert, 89, passed away January 23, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Duke was born and raised in Calhoun County. He married Myrlene Crowson on June 30, 1953 and they welcomed four daughters. He worked at furniture factories until his retirement. Known as Papaw Duke, he always made you feel loved and welcomed. He enjoyed gardening and working in the shop but his biggest accomplishment was his testimony for Christ.
Duke is survived by his wife Myrlene Cowsert; his daughters, Jan Poley(Mike), Marsha May(Jeff), Rhonda Baker(Billy), and Jamie Paden(Mike); his grandchildren, Jason Tutor(Jackie), Corey Moss(Jill), Chris Moss, Tessa Ruth(Matt), Kasey Morrison, Courtney Sessums(Hildon), Randa Courtney(James), Blake Holliway(Lauren), Josh Paden, and John Reed Holloway; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Len and Lenor Cowsert; and his  siblings, Lucille Patterson, Lennie Dee Cowsert, Jim Cowsert, Maurice Cowsert, and Charles Cowsert.
Services will be Friday, January 26, 3034, at Cooke Memorial Baptist Church with Bro Wayne Cobb officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, January 25th 5-9PM at the church and Friday, January 26th 12PM until service time. Burial will follow in Old Cooke Cemetery. Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Jason Tutor, Corey Moss, Chris Moss, Kasey Morrison, Blake Holloway, Josh Paden, and John Reed Holloway.
