Mr. Dudley Hodges, age 84, passed away Saturday July 30, 2022 at Saint Thomas River Park Hospital. Dudley was a Van Buren County native born on October 30, 1937, in the Cummingsville Community, to the late Fred and Dovie Guy Hodges. He was a member of Welchland Baptist Church.
Known to everyone as “Pa Dudley”, he enjoyed playing golf, sitting on his front porch visiting with family, friends and people passing by, and loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was married on September 19, 1980 to his loving wife, Deborah Ann Hodges, who preceded him in death on January 27, 2022. They were married for forty-one years.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by, son; William Darrell “Billy” Hodges, brothers; Charles (Inez) Hodges, Glendull (Jo) McCormick, David Clayton “DC” (Rebecca) McCormick, sisters; Christine Hodges Pettit, Thelma (Jack) Haston, Ozell (Lonnie) Adams, brothers-in-law; Creed Mooneyham, James Dodson, niece; Deborah Ann Kerr, nephews; Kevin Bouldin and Donald Kelly Kerr.
Dudley is survived by his loving family, daughters; Darlene (Jeff) Walling, Karla Hutson and Julie (Travis) Hillis, grandchildren; Shane (Megan) Walling, Shaina Walling, Jaime (Ashley) Hutson, Jason Hutson, Jeremy Hodges, Kristi Hodges, Chloe Hillis and Tanner (Jacquline) Hillis, sisters; Genell Mooneyham, Geneva Dodson, Wanda (Noble) Bouldin and Clata (Bill) Hildreth, brother; J.L. Hodges, special cousin; Verble Lynn (Vicki) Guy, special friend; Ralph Walling, beloved pastor; Mike (Mel) Adams. Many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family also survives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 2, 2022, at 4:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Mike Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Cummingsville Cemetery. Visitation times are Monday August 1st, 4:00pm to 9:00pm and Tuesday August 2nd, 10:00am till time of service at 4:00pm.
