Duck Hunter Missing After Kayak Capsizes In Guntersville Lake

JACKSON COUNTY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a possible drowning in Lake Guntersville near Goose Pond Resort:

“A marine-related event occurred at approximately 8 a.m. Saturday, December 16, while an individual was duck hunting. While duck hunting the individual’s kayak capsized causing the individual to go beneath the water and never resurface. The incident occurred on Lake Guntersville near Goose Pond Resort in Jackson County.

 

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Marine Patrol Division, ALEA’s Aviation Unit, Officers with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) along with the Scottsboro and Jackson County Rescue Squads immediately launched a search for the missing hunter. The hunter has not been located; however, the search effort will continue and ALEA Marine Patrol Troopers will also continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly.”
