Duane Sheridan, 81, of Toney, Alabama went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
Duane was born January 10, 1939 in Essex, Iowa to Homer P. Sheridan and Alice Lawrence.
Left to celebrate his life are his daughter, Mary Parrow and her husband Roger Parrow; his sons Billy Sheridan, and Danny Sheridan and his wife Bernice Sheridan; his sister Juanita George and his brother Gene Sheridan; his 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Duane attended high school in Kansas City, Missouri. He met his wife Jean Dickerson in Pleasant Hill, Missouri where she was working as a waitress. Throughout his life Duane worked in a variety of areas/specialties: bowling alley maintenance technician; served honorably 6 years in the United States Army as an Operations & Intelligence Assistant from 30 August 1958 – 1 September 1964; fiber optic cable manufacturer; assembly line worker; warehouse stock clerk; furniture deliveryman; and an over-the-road truck driver for 30+ years, before retiring in 2016. Duane (and Jean) were members of Calvary Baptist Church where they also served for 20 years as Sunday School teachers for 2-year-olds.
You may visit with the family on Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 2:00pm until 3:00pm at Valhalla Funeral Home (698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, AL 35811). Funeral Services will be at 3:00pm in Valhalla’s Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens in the Garden of Valor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in the honor of Duane A. Sheridan be sent to The Wounded Warrior Project and/or The Paralyzed Veterans of America.
