Doyle Wayne Dougless, age 68, of Tuscumbia, went to be with Our Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 3, 2015, with his loving family surrounding him at Keller Hospital. “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.”
Doyle was a member of Valdosta Baptist Church for fifty-two years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved the Lord, read his Bible every day and prayed daily. Doyle loved being outside gardening, working on old cars, boating with his family and friends, riding motorcycles and having gatherings on the Holidays. He loved his family and friends. He was a member of Washington Masonic Lodge for several years. Doyle served in the National Guard for years and was employed with Reynolds. He worked out of Local #320 and was employed with Occidental for many years.
His family will receive friends Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jeff Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Ruby Dougless, his loving son, Andy Dougless, father-in-law, Roy Clifton and brother-in-law Elton Sneed.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of thirty seven years, Janice Clifton Dougless, his daughter, Tammy Rickman (Doug). His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Halie, Drew and Houston Rickman. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Richardson (Jacky), Diane Sneed, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Ricky Carter, David Dobbs, Ronnie Clark, Larry Wayne Hester, Lance Young and Jimmy Bacon.
Honorary Pallbearers are Truman Borden, Larry Hester, Eric Fenn, Dennis Clifton, Jessie Canerday, Ricky Compton and Allen Smith.
