Doyce Ransom Bailey Doyce Ransom Bailey, 86, of Huntsville passed away Saturday. Originally from Double Springs, Alabama, he graduated from Winston County High School. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Alabama, followed by graduate studies at the University of Texas and a Master’s Degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. His honors included – Phi Kappa Phi award received at UAH, and Scabbard & Blade for ROTC received at The University of Alabama.

From 1955-1957, he was a First Lieutenant in the US Army Finance Corps. From 1958-1959, he was an Auditor for the Exxon Corporation in Houston, Texas. From 1960-1989, he worked as an Accountant and Auditor for NASA.

After retiring from NASA, he enjoyed having more time for his family and taking care of his farm interests in Double Springs. Doyce and his wife of almost 57 years, Sylvia, served in different ministries of First Baptist Church Huntsville. He taught in the children and youth areas for a number of years. He also taught a young married couples’ class, a men’s class and substituted as the teacher in the class he attended in later years.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia H. Bailey; daughter, Laura O’Neil (Chris); son, David Bailey; grandsons, Christopher O’Neil, Kenneth O’Neil and Stephen O’Neil; and twin brother and best friend, Doyle Bailey.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers from Home Instead who took care of Doyce for over a year at his home and to thank the staff and caregivers at Willowbrooke of Magnolia Trace for the past months. We also wish to thank Hospice of North Alabama.

Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Huntsville from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 1 with the funeral service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Television Ministries.
