Doyce Jean Rosebrough Johnson died peacefully on Thursday, October 12, surrounded by her loved ones.  She was 86.

She is survived by the love of her life and loving husband of sixty years, Flavous Randolph Johnson, their daughter Kelly Johnson Fishburne and son-in-law Eddie Fishburne of Raleigh, NC.

Jean grew up in Plevna, AL and graduated from New Market High School.  She and Flavous met while she was working in Huntsville as a Telephone Operator for South Central Bell. They got married in 1963 and built a home and life together in Somerville, AL.  She was a devoted wife and mother and loved her family and friends unconditionally.

Jean was never one to sit around and do nothing, she was always moving. She enjoyed many years of yoga and loved spending time outside in nature.  She spent hours walking the trails, that she designed, through the woods and fields at their home on Center Springs Road.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Eliza Wilson and Homer Rosebrough.  She leaves behind her sisters, Pat Stiles of Fayette, AL, Barbara Kaeser (Ed) of Franklin, TN and Joan Slater (Hugh) of Social Circle, GA.

Services will be held at 2pm on Saturday at Center Springs Church in Somerville with visitation from 1pm-2pm at the church.  Burial in the adjacent, Center Springs Cemetery will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, a tribute donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
