Downtown Athens Summer In June Events

ATHENS-A few upcoming events for kicking off summer in Athens:

  • June 28 – Merchants Alley Happy Hour Music Series
    • There are two Merchants Alley Happy Hour Music Series events left before taking a few months off and returning in this fall.
    • Nix Side Hustle is scheduled for June 21 and Will Paustian is scheduled for June 28.
    • These performances are from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Alley located between The Southern Table and the Athens Main Street office on Jefferson Street in downtown Athens.
    • Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair. Additionally, patrons are encouraged to shop and dine locally at the many shops and restaurants downtown.
  • June 22 – Irons & Ales Grand Opening
    • Irons & Ales plans to open on June 22, 2024, at 10 a.m. located at 217 S. Madison Street Athens, AL 35611 in downtown Athens. The owners are Ryan Gilroy, Renee Gilroy, and Michelle Lacrosse-Yawney. Ryan and Renee moved to Athens from Connecticut in 2021. Soon after, Michelle and her husband decided to make this their new home, moving from Scottsdale, AZ. Irons & Ales is family-friendly and will include golf simulators, darts, foosball, cornhole, lounge areas, quick eats, and more. This business is family and veteran-owned.   • June 28 – Athens Main Street Fridays After Five – Rock the Square Night
    • The third Athens Main Street Fridays After Five Music Series, presented by The Orthopaedic Center – Athens of 2024, will occur on June 28, 2024. The series will transform the east side of the Limestone County Courthouse into the ultimate destination for live entertainment and community celebration. Each month, attendees can soak up the vibrant atmosphere, enjoy extended shopping hours with local merchants, and enjoy delicious food from local restaurants. There will also be different savory and sweet food trucks and children’s activities each month. Admission to the Fridays After Five Music Series is free. The party starts at 5 p.m., with a DJ warming up the crowd until 6:30 p.m. The main performance starts at 7 p.m. and lasts until 8:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair to enjoy the music.
