Funeral services for Dovie Lee Almon Chatmon, age 87 of Choccolocco, will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Chapel at Cremation Services of East Alabama, 733 White Plains Road, Anniston, AL 36207. Pastor Tommy Hardy of New Prospect Baptist Church will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12 noon prior to the service.
Mrs. Dovie Lee Almon Chatmon was born March 20, 1936, to the late Frank Almon and Mrs. Lillian Almon. She confessed Christ as her Heavenly Father at an early age at Hopewell Baptist Church in Wellington, Alabama. She was educated in the Calhoun County Public School District.
Dovie married her high school sweetheart, Collie “Buddy” Chatmon on July 16, 1955, where they resided in the Choccolocco Community. Dovie worked at Cleburne County Nursing Home for more than 30 years until she retired to take care of her daughter, Martha.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Collie Chatmon; daughter, Martha Chatmon; father, Frank Almon; mother, Lillian Almon; sisters, Florence Almon, Elsie Almon, Ollie Frazier and Virginia Elston; Son-in-law, Tommy Ball, brothers, James Almon and Willie Almon; brother-in-law, Byron Frazier, grandchild, Teuntay Pointer, and great-granddaughter, Mia WIlson.
Left to cherish her precious memories are special grandson, Joshua Chatmon and granddaughter, Misty Justice; daughter, Kathleen Ball; sons, Jerome (Sherri) Chatmon, Stanley (Cassander) Chatmon, Travis Chatmon and Charles (Vanessa) Chatmon; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Edna Chatmon, Priscilla Almon, Martha Chatmon Brown, Louise Wilcox and Gertrude Davis; brother-in-law, Henry Elston and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends who were a precious part of her life and whom she loved.
