Douglass Roland Mitchell, 76, of Florence, passed away January 12, 2023. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ; retired from the City of Florence Park and Recreation as a Park Ranger Supervisor with 31 years of service. He was an avid Bass fisherman, and creator of countless fishing tackle.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Baron Maas officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Beulah Mitchell; sisters, Louise Forsythe, and Denise Lay; and brother, William Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jeannie Watkins Mitchell; sons, Scott Hill (Stacey), and Johnathon Mitchell; daughters, Alesia Foshee, and Jana Collier (Tracy); brother, Jerry Mitchell; sister, Linda Jenkins; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
