Funeral service for Douglas Wayne Kretzschmar, age 82, of Trinity, will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Alan Queen officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will be in Garden City Cemetery.
Douglas Wayne Kretzschmar transitioned from pain and suffering into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at his residence. He was born July 31, 1941, in Garden City, Alabama to Otto Kretzschmar and Montel Harris Kretzschmar. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Allen Kretzschmar; and three sisters, Kathleen Kretzschmar, Betty Kretzschmar, and Geraldine Kretzschmar,
Doug was a wonderful loving servant to his Lord, family, and friends. He enjoyed the last 32 years with his loving wife traveling the world, hunting, working in the yard, and enjoying life to the fullest. He served in Vietnam with the U. S. Army. He was a member of Bellview Baptist Church, and retired in 2001 as a chemical operator from 3M following 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jean (Slaton) Kretzschmar; children, Kimberly Keller (Terry), Johnny Kretzschmar (Sherry), Greg Morris (Geri), and Cindy McCulloch (Jeff); twin brother, Ray Bernard Kretzschmar; grandchildren, Cameron Kretzschmar, Cassidy Kretzschmar, Caleb McCulloch, Matthew McCulloch, Isaac Morris, and Daniel Morris; great-grandchildren, Isabella Morris and Lillian Morris; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Jeff McCulloch, Greg Morris, Caleb McCulloch, Matthew McCulloch, Isaac Morris and Daniel Morris.
