Douglas “Slick” McMahan was born April 8, 1941 in Ramer, TN the son of the late Buel and Helen McCullar McMahan. Mr. McMahan departed this life on May 28, 2014 in Selmer, TN at the age of 73 Years, 1 Month, 20 Days.
He was united in marriage to Pat Wardlow on December 22, 1962.
Mr. McMahan was retired from PCA paper mill in Counce, TN with 37 years service. He was a 1959 graduate of Ramer High School and was a guard on the basketball team that went to the state tournament. He attended Belmont College in Nashville on a basketball scholarship. Mr. McMahan was a longtime member of Ramer Baptist Church where he served as pianist and organist for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Pat (Wardlow) McMahan of Ramer, TN; a daughter, Sheri McMahan of Ramer, TN; three sons, Judge Van McMahan and wife Christy of Ramer, TN, Terry Nixon and wife Angie of Ramer, TN, Juanma Martinez Raposo and wife Jenny of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; six grandchildren, Peyton McMahan, Grant McMahan, Grace McMahan, Madalyn Nixon, Ryan Nixon, Abby Nixon; a sister, Carrol Smith and husband Mac of Selmer, TN; two very special aunts, Gwen McCullar and Opal Suggs; a host of extended family and friends and his beloved dog Dolly.
