He never met a stranger. Whether he was checking out at Walmart or the grocery store, strangers were made to feel special because he always asked how they were, or he would ask how their day was going. Strangers became friends. Doug loved people and they loved him. Doug loved his family dearly. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and their husbands, and his special grandson, Archer. Doug and Archer shared a special bond. They were best friends and Archer was always Doug’s “Little Buddy”. Doug loved his mother , two sisters and brother so much. Doug’s last words “I love you” to his mother. He loved to work. He began his career at Deshazo Crane in 1988. He worked there until he began working at Nucor Steel in October of 2002. He remained a loyal employee until his death. The men and women at Nucor became like family. He held a special bond with the crane crew electricians, they were his best friends and like brothers. Near the end of his life, Doug rededicated his life to the Lord. The last 3 weeks of his life, Doug put on Christ. Doug prayed daily and sang hymns to our God.
