Douglas Earl Pierce of Vinemont passed away June 12, 2019 at the age of 68. He was born October 12, 1950 to Albert Earl and Betty Lou Kilpatric Pierce.

Doug had a passion for rodeoing, training performance horses, competition coon hunting, team roping and chicken fighting. He will long be remembered as a trader of livestock, saddles and on anything of value, even a water buffalo. He was a jack of all trades and never missed the opportunity to take time with the younger generation to pass on any knowledge to cowboys, coon hunters and traders that would listen.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Cullman City Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Vicki Pierce; mother, Betty Lou Kilpatric Hood; daughters, Susan Pierce (Van) Cone of Lexington, Mundi McCormick of Vinemont, Matthew Douglas (Chasitie) Pierce of Hatton, Robert Matthew Reid of Vinemont; sisters, Nancy Pierce (Jim) Mermis of Dodge City, AL, Lana (Terry) Slaten of Cullman; brother, Rodney (Patricia) Hood of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren, Tyler (Lindsey) McCormick of Cullman, Vandiver Pierce Cone of Lexington, Clay and Cody Wilson of Hatton.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and research.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at Moss Funeral Home.
