Douglas E. “Doug” Williams, age 87 passed away peacefully in his home in Bremen, Alabama surrounded by his wife, Glenda and stepdaughter, Mellany. Doug was born February 1, 1935 in Bremen and was one of eight children born to George and Rilla Williams. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 11, 2022 at Bell Sumiton Chapel with burial in Rice’s Chapel Cemetery in Bremen. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Doug was a man loved by many who never met a stranger. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed one. He was a devoted husband and had a most caring heart. Doug served his country proudly in the Korean War with great honor and respect. He loved gardening, going to car shows and showing off his classic cars and was a truck driver for 33 years. Doug was ready to go to his heavenly home to meet his Savior and be reunited with his family.
Doug was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Rilla and George Williams; son, Kenneth Williams; three sisters, Opal Handley, Betty Jean Bonham, and Valeria Bridges; half-sister, Nita Bradley; three brothers, Wayne, John, and Buddy; and an infant brother.
Doug is survived by his wife, Glenda Williams; daughter, Karen Paulsen; stepdaughter, Mellany Fields; grandson, Eric Paulsen; and step-grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph, Jessica, MaKayla, and Katie; great granddaughter, Kensly Paulsen; half-sister, Rita Barnett; half-brother, Larry Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.
