Doug Swinney, 70, Spruce Pine, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Illinois, but had lived in Franklin County for several years. He attended the Baptist church. He was a self-employed logger and a member of the Masons, Lodge No. 608.
The funeral service will be Thursday, May 16, 2013, 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, with James McCullar officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery at Phil Campbell. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Swinney; children, Doug (Sharon) Swinney, Dianne Malone, Larry (Melissa) Swinney, David Lindsey, Dewayne (Sherry) Swinney, Jessica (Chuck) Gipson; grandchildren, Robert Malone, Tiffany Curtis, Sabrina Diaz, Erica Swinney, Liz King, Courtney and Briana Lindsey, Dillan and Blake Swinney, Zack, Isaac and Eli Gipson; three great-grandchildren.
Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, will be directing.
