Doug Smith – Obituary

Doug Smith, age 57, of Russellville, passed away after a sudden battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 06, 2017 at Helen Keller Hospital.

Doug had an amazing personality who never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

His visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 09, 2017 at Spry Memorial Chapel, with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Bro. Doug Clement will officiate the service and burial will be at McWright Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Douglas Smith, Sr.; grandparents, Deck and Doty Smith, Andy & Nila McWilliams, William Estes Willis; and niece, Ava Rea Garrison.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Marjorie Smith; his sister, Dawn & Hershel Garrison; nephews, Brett & Joslyn Garrison and their children, Luke and Lydia; Kitt and Angela Garrison and their child, Reagan; close family friends, “Momma” Shirley Gladney, Mz Joyce Foster; and a host of friends.

The pallbearers will be Anthony Pace, Larry Sandlin, David Sandlin, Greg Wheeler, Hudson Copeland, Jaimie Copeland, Charley Riner, and McKinley Copeland.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the amazing staff of doctors and nurses of Helen Keller Hospital, Roger & Marie Hare, and Jim Green for your love and care of Doug.

Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
