RUSSELLVILLE – Doug Evans retired January 31 as an assistant district attorney in Franklin County. After being in private practice for 19 years, he moved on to Lauderdale county as an assistant DA for 16 years after which he took on the same role in Franklin County for 9 more years. Evans admits that it will definitely be odd to not get up each morning and head to an office after doing that for the past 44 years.
After many years of budget cuts, murder trails, sexual abuse cases,overwhelming case loads, and awards suck as the Miriam Shehane Award from Victims of Crime and Leniency (VOCAL) in 2002, Evan’s retirement came on the same evening of his 70th birthday. Evans says he plans on doing much traveling and seeing his children one of whom in currently abroad.
