Dorothy Willodean Shewbart

Dorothy Willodean Shewbart, 93, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at North Alabama Medical Center.  She was born in Belgreen, AL to Clive and Mary Willie Duncan Hendrix.  She was a member of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church and was a homemaker.  She was very active in the Homemaker’s Club and community events.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 8, 1 p.m. at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Nichols officiating.  Burial will be in Burnout Cemetery.  Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by four children, Dorothy Gober (Donald), Genice Owen, Janice Irvin (Rodney) and Danny Shewbart (Renee); eight grandchildren, Dorinda Edwards (Kenneth), Shannon Owen, Leah Bowden (Paul), Dana Rives (Daniel), Derek Gober (Bethany), Aaron Shewbart (Katie), Keri Wyatt (Houston) and Adam Shewbart (Hope); sixteen great-grandchildren, Madison, Kaylyn, Makenzie, Miles, Bailey Ann, Davis, Trager, Traysen, Emily, Charlotte, Mason, Wesley, Cooper, Willow, Hayes and Hollis; three step great-grandchildren, Paul, Robert and Anna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lelion Shewbart; her parents; grandson, Daryl Gober and one sister, Yvonne Greenhill.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Owen, Derek Gober, Aaron Shewbart, Adam Shewbart, Miles Edwards and Trager Shewbart.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 7, 6-9 p.m. at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.
