Dorothy Sue Grimes Frederick

Dorothy Sue Grimes Frederick, 83, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at her home in Smithville. Born on August 1, 1939, she was the daughter of Claves and Inez Brazel Grimes.  Sue grew up in Itawamba County and married Robert Frederick on September 30, 1961.  Prior to her retiring, she worked in housekeeping at Gilmore Memorial Hospital.  A beloved mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.  To pass the time, she liked watching the Hallmark channel and sitting out in her swing.  She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Moffett officiating.  Burial will follow in the Maxey Cemetery.

She is survived by her three sons, Ray Benton (Donna), Tupelo, Allen Benton, Smithville, and Robin Frederick (Tammy), Smithville; one daughter, Christy Robinson (Joel), Fulton; one brother, Thomas Grimes (Linda), Tupelo; grandchildren, Bruce Benton, Jenni Vaughn, Shannon Lucius, Christina Sawyer, Kaitlyn Goodman, Elizabeth Emery, Tiffany Little, Alexis Robinson, Chasidy Fields, Benjamin Benton, Ethan Frederick, Brianna Johnson, Heather Hewitt, Stephanie Robinson, and Cameron Robinson; 18 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Frederick; two brothers, Arvel and Lawrence Grimes; and great grandson, Jerry Archer Robinson.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Benton, Ethan Frederick, Benjamin Benton, Cameron Robinson, Anthony Little, Tim Lucius, Chris Fields, and Nate Hewett.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ira Kennedy and Herbert Sanders.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 until the service time.
