On Sept. 25, 2012, Dorothy R. Ray, 67, a wonderful wife, mama, grandmother, and friend to all, left us behind for a better place where pain and sickness doesn’t exist. The memories she gave us will be cherished always. The visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Her funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at 4 p.m. at Waterloo United Methodist Church with David Muse, David Rushlow and Melody Traylor officiating. She will lie in state at the church from 3-4 p.m. Burial will follow in Richardson Cemetery.

Mrs. Ray was a native of New Kensington, Pa. She attended Penn State University and graduated with honors as a Registered Nurse from Citizens General Hospital. She was a Little League Coach and Teacher’s Aide at Waterloo High School. She was a member of Waterloo Methodist Church.

She was a strong compassionate and loving person who enjoyed cross stitching, gardening, card parties with friends, Game Night at the Senior Center and family gatherings. She was amazingly talented at drawing, painting and crafts. She was an avid sports follower who could tell you stats on any player. She had compassion and took great care of any animal that came her way. Somehow all stray animals knew how to find her. In fact, when it was time for her to choose her dialysis treatment and warned of the risks associated with animals and home treatment…..her choice was clear…… BOTH!

She was preceded in death by her mom and dad, Dorothy and Dale Long; father, Ray Rosenquest; brother, David Long; and brother-in-law, LTC. George D. Wolfe.

Left to cherish her memory always includes husband, Thomas D. Ray; son, Tommy Ray and wife, Tara; and daughter, Beth A. Ray.; granddaughters, Mycah Beth Ray and Lainey Annagail Simpson, all of Waterloo, Ala.; special family members, Amanda Chafin, Miranda and Jeremy Simpson; sister, Audrey E. Wolfe and family, including Randy Wolfe, Dale Wolfe and family, Laurie Wolfe and family, Amy Croom and family, all of Columbus, Ga.; sister-in-law, Kay Long and family, of Chandler, Ariz.

Pallbearers will be Delaine Chafin, Jack Woods, Wayne Espy, Kevin Hubbard, Joel Cole, Teddy Kavich, Nicky Kavich and Tommy “Toukle” Wood.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Hester, Dr. Morris, Dr. Perkins, DVM, Phillip Sweet, LBT, Donald “Dudda” Fowlkes, Tommy Joe James, Dewayne Evans, Jack Harris, Mike Borden, Phillip Jaggers, Jeremy Simpson, Jamin Dowdy, Fay Parker and Waterloo Senior Citizens Members.

A Special Thank You from the family to Beth for her dedicated devotion to her Mama.
