Dorothy Marie Yarbrough, of Blountsville, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday morning, July 20, 2022, at the age of 86. Mrs. Yarbrough was born in Blount County, Alabama, on September 26, 1935, to Richard Augustus and Sophia Gertrude Vanzant Woods.
Mrs. Dorothy worked in the sewing plant for many years, and her love for sewing continued long after her job at the sewing plant ended. Mrs. Yarbrough also loved to read, and she was known by many as the librarian at the Blountsville Public Library. Dorothy dedicated many years to her work at the library and she enjoyed it greatly. Mrs. Yarbrough was also a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Dorothy was loved by many, and she will be missed greatly.
Mrs. Yarbrough is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Martha Smith; and brother-in-law, Rodney Bradford.
Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband, Leamon Yarbrough; son, Lance Yarbrough and wife Rita; granddaughters, Kari Holmes and husband Josh, Bethany Scott and husband Ty; great-grandchildren, Kylie Holmes, Brooklyn Holmes, Lillian Holmes; brothers, Elton Woods and wife Glenda, Welton Woods and wife Janice, Ervin Woods and wife Dorothy; sisters, Barbara Gilliland and husband Roger, Shirley Bradford; sister-in-law, Shirley Eubanks and husband Ted; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy are 12 noon, Saturday, July 23, 2022, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, David Poole officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family prior to the service, from 10 a.m., until noon. Mrs. Yarbrough will be laid to rest in Rock Springs Cemetery immediately following services where Lyle Gilliland, Jason Woods, Dale Woods, Ty Scott, Josh Holmes, and Loren Gilliland will serve as pallbearers.
