Graveside service for Dorothy Mae “Dot” Whitton Burns, 94, will be Monday, May 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Section, Al., with Bro. Geoff Halbrooks officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Dorothy Mae “Dot” Whitton Burns, born September 11, 1929 in Jackson County, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Summerford Health and Rehab in Falkville, AL on May 9, 2024 at the age of 94. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Burns, her parents, Lother and Lillie Whitton and her brother, Herschel Whitton (Gaynell). She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt.
She is survived by:
Two sons, Randy Burns (Cindy) and Jerry Burns (Elizabeth)
Three grandchildren, Leslie Gibbons (Patrick), Christin Aune (Bob) and Daniel Burns (Jennifer)
Six great-grandchildren, Spencer and Evie Gibbons, Parker and Elijah Aune, and Annalise and Everleigh Burns
Dot was a longtime member of West Hartselle Baptist Church where she served faithfully for many years.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Burns, Patrick Gibbons, Bob Aune, and Keith Burns.
