Funeral services for Dorothy Mae Culwell of Hanceville will be 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 5th at Midway Missionary Baptist Church in Hanceville. Reverend Lonnie Goodwin will be officiating. Mrs. Culwell will lie in repose at the church on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Burial will follow the service at Welti Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 4th at Hanceville Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Mrs. Culwell was born on April 11, 1934 in Cullman County to the late William and Mima (Ham) Boatright. She passed away peacefully at her home on February 1, 2023 at the age of 88. She was the oldest founding member of Midway Missionary Baptist Church. Spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was a passion of hers. A few of the many things she enjoyed doing was reading, gardening and canning. She was also well known for her quick-wittedness, joking and laughter.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Gorman Max Culwell Jr., William Kent Culwell, Eric Wade (Patty) Culwell, Dorothy Yvonne (Harold) Robinson and Jared Dwight (Jamie) Culwell; grandchildren, Alex Culwell, Amanda Christopher, Josh Culwell, Delia Collins, Aurora Culwell, Luke Smith, Lauren Smith, Mike Smith, Sarah Eskew, Michael Culwell, Kaylee Renshaw, L.J. Culwell, Rory Amos and Tyler Amos; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Lorene Mann; and a host of many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Culwell was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Culwell; great granddaughter, Rogue Marie Culwell; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters.
