Mrs. Dorothy M. Burnett, age 91 of Toone, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, August 21, 2013 at Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center in Henderson, TN.
A lifelong native of Hardeman County, she was born to the late Albert and Velma Henson Pirtle September 29, 1921. On July 4, 1936, she was united in marriage to Duetroe Burnett who preceded her in death in 2009. She worked for Bolivar Processing and retired from Kilgore. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, hand crafts, gardening and taking care of people, visiting them and taking food to them. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She leaves as survivors her daughter, Brenda Kennon of Toone; son, Larry Burnett of Toone; sister, Malendia Jackson of Medon; three grandchildren, Dwayne Burnett, Vickie Burnett and Michael Morgan; and three great-grandchildren, Bethany Melander, Jakob Burnett and Adalynn Morgan.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Pirtle.
