Dorothy Lee Milam McMullen 91, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on June 29, 2024.
Dorothy (Dot) was born on August 5, 1932 in San Antonio, Texas to Willie Homer Milam and Ona Bell Washam Milam.
She met her husband, William Lee McMullen, in the 10th grade. They married on July 22, 1950, in Houston, Texas shortly after she graduated and shared 66 years together before he passed in 2016. They had two children, Kathryn Lynn Engle (Harry) and William (Butch, Bill) Arnold McMullen (Lisa).
She retired from Redstone Arsenal as a Supervisory Budget Analyst in 1987 and was blessed to spend the next 18 years with William on their farm in Limestone County Alabama before moving back into Huntsville in 2006. She always said they loved living on the farm better than anywhere else. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and crafts; but most of all she enjoyed just being with her family.
She is survived by her children, Kathryn and Bill; one sister, Mary Frances Milam Royall; grandchildren, Gregory Lee Engle (Leigh), William Christopher McMullen, Benjamin Michael McMullen (Sara), and Laura Catherine McMullen Taylor (Joey); great grandchildren, Sara Grace Engle, Gregory Lee Engle II, Noah Joseph Taylor, Jackson Christopher Taylor, Phoenix Lee Taylor, Wiley Catherine Taylor, Benjamin Anthony McMullen, and many well-loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband William; grandson, Aaron Scott Engle, siblings, William Hale Milam, Charles Leslie Milam, Richard Darrel Milam, Willie Home Milam, Jr., Elliott Jordan Milam, and Joyce Ann Milam Arbogast Stafford.
Dorothy was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church for over 60 years and attended Wooley Springs Baptist Church while they lived in Limestone County.
She spent her first hours every morning reading her Bible and praying. The most important thing she wanted people to know is that she loved her LORD, her family and looked forward to her last home yet to come.
