Dorothy Jean Weeks, age 91, of Vernon, AL, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Fayette Medical Center in Fayette, AL. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 2:00pm at Vernon First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Crews Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church prior to the funeral service from 12:00pm until 2:00pm. Bro. Brandon Phillips to officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Otts Funeral Home from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
Ms. Jean was born on August 5, 1931 in Sulligent, AL, in the Prospect Community, to the late Luther Calvin Otts and the late Dellie Mae Flynn. She was a 1949 graduate of Sulligent High School. Jean previously worked in area garment plants and as the Chief Clerk at the Lamar Co. Probate Office, serving 18 years as Lamar County Tax Assessor. She enjoyed crocheting and was a member of First Baptist Church in Vernon, AL.
