Dorothy Jean Tidwell, of Pelham, AL, formerly of Sipsey, AL, passed away on April 25, 2023 at the age of 88.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will be at Pisgah Baptist Cemetery in Sipsey. Ed Snow will officiate.
She was preceded in death by her Parents-Roy and Bessie Mae Buzbee; Husband-Herman Tidwell; Brothers-Mike Buzbee and J.C. Buzbee; Sisters-Kathleen Buzbee, Mabel Boyd and Opal Bailey; Grandchildren-Katelyn Whitworth and Benjamin L. Bailey, II. She was also preceded in death by her Significant other of 40 plus years-Jim Speed on April 15, 2023.
Jean is survived by her Son-Johnny Tidwell (Lori); Daughters-Teresa Olmstead (Miles) and Karen Bailey (Ben). She had 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, family was everything to her.
She was a beloved nurse for more than 50 years and loved her profession and her patients. Jean was a devout Christian all her life and she loved the Lord more than anything. One of Jean’s favorite foods was cobbler (blackberry or peach) and she is probably eating some heavenly cobbler right now.
