Dorothy Irene White
February 2, 1930 – April 6, 2024
Born on February 02, 1930. Our beloved “ground hog” as we said every birthday. She Leaves behind her daughters, Beverly and Jennifer. She loved her Dub, who was by her side for 73 years and her children,
more than her next breath.
She was the physical education teacher at Lexington High School and later in her career, the school guidance counselor there for a total of 37 years. Physical education was as important as any class in school to her, so participation and trying your best was expected. She was one “tough cookie” and the strongest person we have ever known and will ever know. That’s why We got shirts that said “Mama Tough”.
She and O. W. traveled a lot after their retirement. On the bus tours, she was known for leading the singing. There was not a patriotic song she didn’t know.
She was a faithful member of Green’s Chapel Methodist Church and her strong alto voice rang out on every song, every Sunday. She had a bright and sweet smile. All who met her or came by to visit, mentioned her radiant smile.
As a student, herself, she never made a “B”. Straight A’s is what she expected of herself and that’s what she worked for.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Clessie Mae Tripp, her husband, Orb, and her sisters, Margaret Garland, Florine Haddock, Thelma Pope, Velma Hood and Ruby Mosley. She is survived by one sister, Ruth Clark of Henryville, Tennessee.
She loves Jesus, Dub and her girls.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Loretto Memorial Chapel at 3:00 pm with Eric Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Richardson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Loretto Memorial Chapel.
