Dorothy Howard, 85, of Muscle Shoals died Monday, October 14, 2013, at Shoals Hospital.
Visitation will be Friday, October 18, 2013, at Elkins East Chapel from 11 AM to 1 PM. Funeral services will be at 1 PM in the Chapel with Bro. Stan Dean officiating. Burial will be at Bluewater Cemetery.
Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by an infant son; mother, Lula Marie Herston Tate; father, Lonus Franklin Tate; brother, Cecil “Dude” Tate; sister, Verta Mae Killen; nephew, Steve Tate.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years William Howard; daughters, Pat Gean (Larry) and Donna Stansell (Boogie); grandchildren, Amy Lovelady (Norman) and Todd Gean (Cindy); great-grandchildren, Austin Gean, Caleb Lovelady, Carter Lovelady, Ashton Gean, Easton Gean, and Landon Gean; very special niece, Billie Barfield; nieces, Barbara Ingram and Betty Bouknight; nephews, Rickey Ritter, Mark Tate, Glen Tate, and Kendall Tate; very special cat, “Miss Kitty”.
Pallbearers will be Norman Lovelady, Boogie Stansell, Caleb Lovelady, Carter Lovelady, Austin Gean, Todd Gean, and Rickey Ritter.
Mrs. Howard will be lovingly remembered for her generous heart, her love and compassion for others, and her great sense of humor. She loved and was deeply devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and niece. Her presence made life easier for everyone around her.
She leaves her family with the knowledge they were truly loved and treasured. She was in the truest sense a “mother”. She will be greatly missed.
