Dorothy Hood Thomas, age 85 of Goodspring, passed away peacefully on Monday July 8, 2024 at Meadowbrook.

Dorothy was born in Giles County on October 12, 1938 to Samuel and Francis Nave Hood. Dorothy retired as a cook for Select Foods, worked at South Side Elementary as a teachers’ aid where they lovingly called her “Mama Dot”. Dorothy had a love of growing flowers, working in her garden, and was a member of the Shores Baptist Church. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 34 years Billy James Thomas; son Roger Thomas; daughter Connie Hickman; brothers Devon and Myles Hood; sisters-in-law Glenda Hood, Jean Hood, and Debbie Hood; and special friend Charlie Fry.

Visitation will be held 11am-1pm on Thursday July, 11, 2024 at Carr and Erwin Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 1pm. Interment at Shores Memory Garden to follow.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Shores Memory Garden.

Dorothy is survived by her son Ronnie Thomas (Sherry) of Pulaski; brothers Dale Hood (Linda) of Pulaski, Wade Hood (Joyce) of Pulaski, Stanley Hood of Ardmore, AL, Rickey Hood (Leslie) of Pulaski, Loyd Hood (Wynell) of Lobelville, TN; sisters Myra Sutton (JC) of Pulaski, Brenda Brown of Decatur, AL, and Martha Britton (Randy) of Pulaski; grandchildren Heath Hickman, Heather Prier (Mitch Hoppe), and Tyler Bivins; great grandchild Mason Hickman; sister-in-law Salley Abernathy Hood of Pulaski; special friend Pam Newton of Pulaski; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Carr and Erwin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
