Dorothy Hester – Obituary

Dorothy Hester, 82, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center Inpatient Hospice in Tupelo. Ms. Hester was born on December 7, 1930 in Tishomingo County to Zeke and Etta Crawford Hester. She was a member of South Crossroads Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Holcut High School and Blue Mountain College. Ms. Hester liked gospel music and loved visiting with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed going to yard sales and eating out with her cousin, Virginia Gattis. She moved to Southern Magnolia Estates in 2006 where the staff was her extended family as well as her caregivers. Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 6, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 7, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Mike Neighbors. Interment will follow in South Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers include Andy Crawford, Danny Gattis, Tommy Hester, and Tim Ryan. Honorary Pallbearers include Marion Crawford, Gene Hester, Jim Hester, and Terry Hester. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include four nieces, Jane Smith and husband, Jerry, of Utica, KY, Patsy Hester of Saltillo, MS, Carolyn Newman and husband, Jim, of Browder, KY, and Kim McDonald of Colombia, TN; a sister-in-law, Janette Hester of Belton, KY; and her great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joe and Braxton Hester; and a sister-in-law, Evelene Hester. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Crossroads Cemetery Fund, c/o Rick Dunn, 454 Hwy. 364, Tishomingo, MS 38873.
