Dorothy “Geraldine” Statom – Obituary

dorothy 2“Geraldine” Statom, 81, a lifelong resident of Florence, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 19, 2013. She was a member of the Church of Christ who resided at Keestone Assisted Living and, most recently, Mitchell Hollingsworth. She worked for Kroger Co. in North Florence for many years and retired from the Lawrenceburg, Tenn. store in 1993.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Weddington; and her brothers, Lawrence, Harold and James Daniel Weddington.

She is survived in life by her children, Sheila and Steve Hopkins and Steve Statom, of Florence. Her grandchildren are Richard Aldridge, of Orange, Va., Rachel and Johnny Lee, of Florence, and Virgil Statom, of Nashville, Tenn. Her great-granddaughters are Zoe Savranakis, of Mt. Holly, N.C. and Blakely and Madelyn Lee, of Florence.

Geraldine “loved life”.

The family would like to express gratitude and a sincere thank you to Dr. Doreen Morris for her kindness and excellent care for Geraldine.

A memorial service will be held at Greenview Funeral Home in Florence on Saturday, March 23, at 2 p.m. Visitation with the family is from 1-2.
