Dorothy Faye Johnson Horton, 89, of Wolf Springs passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024 at her home. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Paul Haley officiating. Burial will be at King Cemetery.
Born on May 3, 1934 to the late Asa and Grace Murray Johnson, Dorothy was a 1952 graduate of Selmer High School and a member of Leighton Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, working with her flowers where she loved to watch the hummingbirds, reading her Bible, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Tim (Angela) Horton, Amanda (Joe) Bogle, and Melinda (Tim) Bumpas; grandchildren, Amy (Paul) Hogg, Cassie (Jeff) Jernigan, Adam (Ashley) Bogle, Tamara Bartlett, Jordan (Bennett) Behel, Janna (Brad) Chaney; great-grandchildren, Anna (Chris) Graves, Asa Hogg, Rett Hogg, Stella Hogg, Bo Hogg, Ryder Jernigan, Abram Bogle, Lorelei Bogle, Calebeth Bartlett, Evie Bartlett, Eli Chaney, and Jaxon Chaney; great-great-grandchildren, Bryer Graves and Brigg Graves; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Leon Horton; parents; brothers, Leland Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, and Ernest Johnson; and grandson, Caleb Horton.
Pallbearers will be Adam Bogle, Brad Chaney, Bennett Behel, Paul Hogg, Jeff Jernigan, Tim Mardis, and Kenny Lowery. Honorary pallbearers are Asa Hogg and Rett Hogg.
The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at North Alabama Medical Center, Home Health, and Southern Care New Beacon Hospice, especially her nurse Karmen Fretwell. They also want to thank Dorothy’s Red Land Cotton Family, and her church and community friends for their love and support.
