Dorothy Faye Gargis was born November 21, 1946, and passed away Monday, June 3, 2024. Her family will receive friends in visitation Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 12-2pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel. The funeral will begin at 2pm with Bro. Mike Smith and Bro. Ted Vafeas officiating the service in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Lanford and Ruth Devaney; brothers, James and Raymond Devanney; and sisters, Mattie Green, and Joyce Herston.
Faye is survived by her sisters, Delores Mitchell, and Norma Devaney; brother, Gary Devaney; son, Jackie Eugene Gargis (LeighAnn); grandchild, Holly Garcia (Tony); and nieces, Camille Smith (Mike), Peggy Wingo (Dennis), and Gwen Rikard (Eddie).
Faye retired from TVA with 25 years of service. She was the first female TVA machinist. She was a member of Washington Park Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Wingo, Eddie Rikard, Scott Rikard, Craig Smith, Justin Sparks, Tony Garcia, and Brad Stout.
Faye enjoyed spending time with family but she truly enjoyed her breakfast each morning at Two Fat Sisters. Faye will be missed by all.
