Dorothy Evelyn Black Henderson, 80, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Visitation will be Thursday, August 24th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Friday, August 25th, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with sons, Dan, Jeff, and Tim officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
Dottie was a Gospel preacher’s wife for over fifty years, serving alongside her late husband of 58 years, Jerry Lonnie Henderson. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Rebekah LeAnne Henderson; and grandson-in-law, Kaleb Ryan Guest; parents, Grady and Dorothy Black; and sister, Judy Thrasher. Dottie was a member of Singing River church of Christ.
Dottie is survived by her children, Dan (JoBeth), Beth, Jeff (Tonya), and Tim (Anna) Henderson; grandchildren, Rachel (Andrew) Armitage, Ruth (Reuben) Prevost, Isaac Henderson, Jonathan (Jacqueline) Henderson, Brooklyn Guest, Benjamin, Laura, and Austin Henderson; great-grandchildren, Ezekiel Prevost-Ede and Kara Prevost; sister, Juanita Rickard; and a host of nieces, nephews, and honorary children and grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family expresses special thanks to Keller Home Health and Alabama Hospice, especially Heather and Marci.
