Dorothy Elizabeth Uselton Coan, 83, of Huntsville, AL passed away on July 22, 2016. She was born in Tullahoma, TN where she graduated from Tullahoma High School. She attended Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. After college, she moved to Huntsville and worked for several mortgage loan companies in the area. In 1978, she began work for Regions Bank (formally known as Real Estate Financing) as Office Manager within the Mortgage Production Division. Dottie retired from Regions in 1998 after 20 years of employment.
Dottie and her loving husband, John, married in 1961. In 1971, they were blessed with their beloved son, Hadley.
Upon retirement, she spent her free time volunteering at Early Works Museum, traveling, gardening, soaking up good books and cheering for the Tennessee Vols. Dottie and John are members of Valley Hill Country Club, Trinity United Methodist Church and she was a member of The Willowbrook Garden Club.
Dottie is best known for her heart of gold, her enduring friendships, and the steadfast love and acceptance she showered on her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, John; son, Hadley and wife, Carrie, and their children, Yates and Wynn; her brothers, James Uselton and wife, Jan, Bill Uselton and wife, Brenda, Kenneth Uselton and wife Martha, her sisters-in–law, Mary Lynn Uselton, and Ellen Kile and husband, David, her 15 nieces and nephews, and her 25 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Edna Uselton, a brother Sam Uselton, a sister-in-law Leila Pepper, three nephews Ben Uselton, Stuart Uselton, Kirk Pepper, and a grand-nephew Hogan Vaughn. In addition, the family notes, with love, her niece Leigh Vaughn who with the family gave special care to her Aunt Dot.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 31 from 2-4pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntsville with service following at 4pm.
