Dorothy “Dot” Summers, 76 of Huntsville passed away on Friday, Feb 18. Dot was born in Birmingham and graduated from Shades Valley High School in 1964. She went on to graduate from Auburn University with a degree in Secretarial Science. Before starting a family, she was employed by Huntsville Utilities. After raising children, she had a 20 year career working as an Administrative Assistant at Redstone Technical Test Center. Dot was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and did so at every opportunity. She was also involved in her church and had a very active social life. She greatly enjoyed visiting with her dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Grant Yeilding and Dorothy Fore Yeilding; her brother, William Grant Yeilding II; and her daughter, Christie Summers Draiss. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Forest Summers; her son, Stuart Summers (Chris) of Park City, UT; grandchildren, Anna Lauren Summers, Barrett Draiss, Forest Summers and Thomas Summers; her sister, Kay Yeilding Carboni; as well as several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 22nd from 12:00-2:00 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home followed by a service officiated by the Rev. Denny Freeman. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Ability Center, 1000 Ability Way, Park City, UT 84060.
