Dorothy "Dot" McDonald  Dorothy “Dot” McDonald, passed away peacefully in her home on December 16, 2024, at age 95. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd and parents, Gilbert and Ann Matthews and Hobert Morris, brother, Lamar Matthews. She is survived by her daughter, Joy Wagner, son Tim McDonald (Joanna), sisters Foerrestine Matthews, Juduth Matthews (caregiver), and sister-in-law Joan Matthews.

Dot was blessed with three grandchildren: Heather Droke (Patrick), Zoe McDonald, Nathan McDonald, and great-grandson, Hudson Droke.

She was born in Bridgeport, Alabama on February 18, 1929 and graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1947. While she and Floyd were raising their two children, she was a substitute teacher, Cub Scout den mother and band booster. Dot opened a small gift shop in downtown Bridgeport, after which she became co-owner of Tot and Teen Shoppe in South Pittsburg, TN.

Dot was a 1975 originating member of the CUBB (Citizens United for a Better Bridgeport) and served as President. She served for many years as an Inspector for elections in Jackson County and also was a member of the Literary Club.

Dot was a life long member of the Bridgeport Church of Christ, where for many years she was a Sunday School Teacher.

The family would like to acknowledge friends and neighbors who have been so supportive of her. Especially neighbors Warren and Nanna Whitcher, Sue Stewart, Doris Ann Janney, and Pat Moss, as well as Joe and Melissa Stovall who came to her rescue many times. All who knew Dot loved her. She was truly a precious and special person.
