Dorothy “Dot” Bailey – Obituary

dotDorothy “Dot” Bailey, 83, died Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Leeper Greenhouse in Tupelo. She was born July 15, 1933 in Leland, MS. She graduated from Clarksdale High School. She was a retired clerical worker and a member of Beta Sigma Phi of Clarksdale. She was a longtime member of Monument Drive Baptist Church. She was an avid Ole Miss Rebel fan and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Services will be 10 AM Saturday with Bro. Tim Roaten officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Denise Lesley (William) of Mooreville; two sons, Joel Bailey, Jr. (Suzanne) and Harvey Bailey (Teresa) all of Tupelo; two sisters, Clarise Keen (Lamar) of Southaven and Diane Hammond (Sonny) of Arlington, TX; two brothers, Raymond Vaughn (Donna) of Southaven and Michael Vaughn (Donna) of Plantersville; four grandchildren, Michelle Lindsey (Jody), Kim Inghram (Greg), Austin Bailey and Parker Bailey; three great-grandchildren, Riley Bruce, Hayden South and Bailey Bruce; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Harvey Wells, Lucille Wells Vaughn and Lee Roy Vaughn; her husband, Joel Bailey, Sr.; two brothers, Steven Vaughn and Billy Wells.
Pallbearers will be Austin Bailey, Mike Vaughn, Raymond Vaughn, Michael Vaughn, Greylin Keen and Tim Hammond.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North MS Medical Center Cancer Patient Fund.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at the Leeper Greenhouse, Sanctuary Hospice House and Dr. Julian Hill.
